With the wall only being 213cm in length i decided to really budget it and diy my own wall panelling with mdf board and decorative mouldings purchased from my local wickes. You can transform your room into a talking point or simply give a boring wall new life by using a design that provides subtle texture. Just follow the steps outlined above and you have your own feature wall in no time. Installing 3d panels on your own might seem overwhelming but you will be surprised with how easy it is once you get going.

Give your room extra depth and dimension by adding a unique 3d decorative wall covering. Reinstall any wall baseboard to this lower panel. Make a pass on the panel using a metal rule and cut deeper with every cut. Once you are done use the sandpaper to sand out the cut edge.

Install the lower panel with 15 gauge finish nails 6 on center 1 from the top and bottom. Mount another row of 2x4s 1 from floor. I measured the area i wanted the panelling to cover and purchased this large mdf board for 11 99. There is an unlimited number of ways of making and designing wall panels they can be made of any flat material and any covering.

Decorative wall panels are the most effective way to add interest to a room creating themes that are cheaper than redecorating a whole room with new furniture. If you are using base molding cut the bottom panel 1 short to alleviate any floor variance issues.
